Downgrading to an older version

There are various reasons why you would want to use an older version. For example your computer is too weak to run the more advanced versions or you are using old mods.

Download

Older versions can be found on the changelog history page[1]. Each version is linked by their green high-lighted version number.

Installation

example installation folder is "Cosmoteer", example top level folder is "Games" on "C:" drive

If you want to run it along side other versions simply install it in a different folder. This is done by giving the folder a different name from the previously used installation folder name or rename the previous folder and keep using the same name or any combination thereof or by typing in a different top level location.

You can also browse for the location you want to install it to.

After installation create a short cut if necessary and with the appropriate name. Other command line options for shortcuts can be found in Starting the game.

Settings.txt

Different versions may have different settings. The default settings.txt can be found in users/username/Documents/My Games/Cosmoteer/.

Beginning with Cosmoteer 0.15.3, the settings.txt are incompatible to older ones and different settings.txt must be used for the different versions.

In this case you should add a --rootsavepath "C:\Cosmoteer_0.13.9_Saves\" to the shortcut command line to keep the settings and saved ships/games separate in another custom folder.

Savegame and ship files

Most of the time these are safe. However, several times in the past changes have made them incompatible or moved their location. Please check the changelog or history page.
